About Us

As a community choir our core values are centred around entertaining, and bringing together and supporting our local community. We do this through ensuring our choir is accessible to all. There are no auditions, every voice is welcome. We try not to take ourselves too seriously and Monday night rehearsals are a chance for us to all to come together, sing our hearts out and escape the world for a few hours. We pride ourselves on being a diverse, welcoming and friendly group who have a shared love of music.

Being a member of the Love2Sing Community Choir is a great place to unwind the stresses of daily life and improve your mental health. We sing for enjoyment and as a non-profit organisation, support local events within the community. As a choir we support the Sue Ryder Foundation in memory of our former choir member Angie.

Over the years we have performed at various events including Kingsway Big Lunch, sung with the Gloucester Police Male Voice Choir, entertained the WI, supported at ‘Help if you Can’ events, most recently the parade and service for the late Queen’s Platinum Jubilee as well as hosting our own Summer and Christmas performances.

Although our rehearsals are working towards these performances, no member is obliged to participate in these performances. We aim to give plenty of notice of events scheduled and also encourage soloists to perform in addition to the main choir programme if that is something they aspire to do.

We sing a wide range of songs from shows such as ‘Les Misérables’ and ‘The Greatest Showman’ to the songs ‘Stand by me’, ‘Sing’ and ‘Hallelujah’. Over the summer we learnt the Song for the commonwealth ‘A life lived with Grace’ to mark the late Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations which we had the honour of singing at a local community service at Severn Vale School in July 2022. Many of the songs we choose to sing is chosen in conjunction with the Love2Sing Community Choir Committee (a selection for members) and our Musical Director Kate.

Kate has been our Musical Director since 2017. By day, she works as a Specialist Music Teacher in local primary schools, leading whole class music lessons. By night, she enjoys singing in a choir herself, being a member of Military Wives Choirs since 2012. She loves all things music and will sing, play and make music with anyone who is willing to join her!

Quotes from Facebook Reviews

“I joined Love2Sing a few years ago. You don’t need to be able to read music and you don’t have to audition, you just need to love 2 sing which is what we do every week on a Monday at 7.30pm in Kingsway. It has helped with my mental health and helped my physical health as singing has helped me get my puff back after Covid. The group are friendly and we sing a variety of songs while having a proper laugh. We have a wide age range and a mix of men and women and welcome everyone.”

“Friendly and fun. Have been singing in the choir for a few months now, and it’s been great! No pressure to have an amazing voice either, just get involved!”

“I joined the Love2Sing choir earlier this year, it’s a really friendly group and we always have a laugh. Kate, our conductor is brilliant and very encouraging. Although we only meet once a week, I’m always singing at home. It’s improved my mental health and I’ve met some lovely people. Would highly recommend!”
